Downloading from Usenet

To download from Usenet you only need a NewsXS Usenet account and a newsreader program. The newsreader GrabIt can be downloaded for free. After installing the newsreader and configuring it with your account information, you can start right away.

To quickly start downloading the correct files, you can use www.ftn2day.nl for free. After subscribing and login with the ftn account, you will see a very complete overview of available titles posted by others. Select what you want to download by clicking on the NZB-button (after leaving a short message), and your newsreader will start the download automatically!

What is the speed with which you download

The download speed will be as indicated for your NewsXS account. Of course  you cannot download faster then your internet connection allows you to.

Is downloading safe

When you enable the SSL (Secure Sockets Layer, see our support page) all data between your computer and the servers from NewsXS will be completely encrypted. This way your internet service provider cannot monitor the data you generate.

Do you need additional software

To download from Usenet you indeed need a newsreader. The program GrabIt is a good solution and is also free. Another popular newsreader is NewsLeecher, not free but a trail period of 14 days. The latest versions of these applications support SSL. They also automatically check, repair and unpack most of your downloads. To unpack other downloads you can use WinRar, which can be used for free.

Start downloading directly after subscription

After your subscription and receiving the PayPal payment you can use your NewsXS usenet account right away. The account information is send by email to the supplied address.
